Thoseghar Falls, Satara

from Satara city, it's a popular spot for a day trip. A well-maintained viewing platform allows for safe and stunning views of the falls. Given its popularity, visiting on a weekday is advisable to avoid large crowds. The best time to witness its full glory is from July to October. While you can't enter the water, the thunderous sound and misty spray make for an unforgettable experience.
Lingmala Waterfall, Mahabaleshwar
Nestled near Mahabaleshwar, Lingmala Waterfall offers two distinct experiences. There is a main, towering waterfall that drops from about 500 feet and a smaller, separate cascade that is more accessible. The walk to the viewpoints is through a forested path, which can be a bit tiring but is well worth the effort for the magnificent views. The falls are located just 6 km from the Mahabaleshwar bus stand on the road to Panchgani. While swimming near the main fall is prohibited due to the strong currents, the sheer beauty of the location makes it a must-visit for nature lovers seeking a peaceful retreat. The ideal time to visit is during the peak monsoon months when the Venna river feeds the falls generously.
Randha Falls, Bhandardara

During the monsoon, the waterfall is at its most ferocious and is a highlight for visitors to the area, located about 10 km from the Bhandardara bus stop. Vihigaon Waterfall, Near Igatpuri
Also famously known as Ashoka Waterfall after a movie scene was filmed here, this spot near Vihigaon village is a popular weekend getaway from both Mumbai and Nashik. The waterfall cascades from a height of about 120 feet into a pool, creating a picturesque setting in the middle of a dense forest. It is particularly known as a spot for waterfall rappelling, offering an adventurous twist for thrill-seekers. Access is relatively easy, with a short hike required to reach the base. It's located about 13.5 km from Igatpuri, making it an accessible monsoon destination.
A Note on Monsoon Safety
While the beauty of these waterfalls is amplified during the monsoon, so are the risks. Water levels can rise suddenly and without warning, even if it isn't raining at the waterfall's location itself. Rocks and trails become extremely slippery, so wearing sturdy footwear with good grip is essential. Always adhere to safety barriers and warnings posted at these sites and avoid entering the water in prohibited zones. Swimming can be dangerous due to strong, unpredictable currents and hidden rocks.
