A Timely Step for Travelers
To address the consistent demand for train travel and manage the seasonal passenger surge, Central Railway has extended the operational period of 216 special train services. This proactive measure is a welcome development for daily commuters, families
on vacation, and everyone in between, ensuring more predictable and accessible travel options in the coming months. The extensions cover a mix of daily and weekly trains, providing enhanced connectivity across several states. Officials confirmed this step was taken specifically to cater to the increasing passenger load and make travel more convenient. This extension plan includes a massive 1,448 trips in total, strategically planned to cover peak travel periods.
Key Daily Routes Extended
A significant part of this extension involves daily special trains that serve as a lifeline for many passengers. The Pune-Danapur Daily Special (Train No. 01449), previously scheduled to run until July 15, 2026, will now continue its services until September 28, 2026. In the return direction, the Danapur-Pune Daily Special (Train No. 01450) has also been extended from July 18 to September 30, 2026. Other crucial daily services that will continue to operate include those on the Pune-Kolhapur, Hadapsar-Harangul, Solapur-Daund, and Badnera-Nashik routes, with many of these services extended until mid-July 2026. These daily trains are vital for commuters and those making frequent trips between these key commercial and residential hubs.
Weekly Services Covering Major Hubs
In addition to daily services, several weekly special trains connecting major cities have also received extensions, offering more options for long-distance travelers. Services between Solapur and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (Train Nos. 01435/01436) will now run until mid-July 2026, providing crucial connectivity for passengers travelling to and from the Mumbai metropolitan area. Similarly, the special train service on the busy Solapur-Anakapalle route (Train Nos. 01477/01478) will continue until late September 2026. This particular extension benefits passengers moving between Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh for work, education, or pilgrimage. Other important weekly extensions include trains connecting Prayagraj with Hubballi and Kanpur with Bengaluru, ensuring better connectivity between North and South India.
How to Book Your Tickets
For travelers looking to make use of these extended services, booking procedures remain straightforward. Reservations for most of these special trains can be made through all computerised reservation centres and the official IRCTC website or mobile application. It is important to note that bookings for many of these extended trips open in phases. For passengers planning to travel in unreserved coaches, tickets can be purchased through the UTS mobile app or at station ticket counters at normal fares. Central Railway has confirmed that the timings, routes, scheduled stoppages, and coach compositions for these extended trains will remain unchanged, ensuring a seamless experience for passengers who may have already planned their journeys.
