This weather pattern is part of a broader system influencing central and northwestern India, but the west coast remains a key area of focus for heavy rainfall alerts.
Forecast for Maharashtra and Goa
The Konkan region, which includes Mumbai and Goa, is on high alert. The IMD has predicted widespread rainfall with isolated heavy spells for Konkan and Goa through July 30th. Madhya Maharashtra is also expected to see continued showers. Extremely heavy rainfall has already been recorded in parts of Madhya Maharashtra in the preceding days. Residents and travellers should brace for gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph in the Konkan & Goa and Madhya Maharashtra regions. Gujarat is also forecast to receive significant rainfall. The IMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall for the Gujarat Region on July 29th, with the possibility of extremely heavy falls on July 31st. The Saurashtra & Kutch area is expected to see rain until July 30th. These regions have already seen intense spells this monsoon season, and the upcoming rain could exacerbate conditions, especially in low-lying areas. The IMD also warns of thunderstorms and gusty winds across the state.
