Why This Disruption Is Happening
The disruptions are necessary for the ongoing yard remodelling at Bina and Agasod stations, which is a key part of connecting a new third railway line between these two points. This project, managed by the West Central and North Central Railway zones,
involves complex pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work scheduled in phases until October 15, 2026. The aim is to significantly increase the capacity of this busy corridor, which is a critical link for trains on the Delhi-Chennai and Delhi-Howrah routes. Once complete, the upgraded infrastructure is expected to improve the management of train movements, reduce congestion, and enhance the punctuality and reliability of services.

A number of passenger and express trains will be fully cancelled on specific dates. These include several local MEMU services and some long-distance trains. Key cancellations affecting travel in October include: 12197 Bhopal-Gwalior Intercity & 12198 Gwalior-Bhopal Intercity: Cancelled from October 1 to October 15. 12192 Jabalpur-Hazrat Nizamuddin Shridham Express: Cancelled from September 26 to October 14. 12191 Hazrat Nizamuddin-Jabalpur Shridham Express: Cancelled from September 27 to October 15. 22161 Bhopal-Damoh Rajyarani Express: Cancelled from October 9 to October 15. 22162 Damoh-Bhopal Rajyarani Express: Cancelled from October 10 to October 16. 22169 Rani Kamalapati-Santragachi Humsafar Express: Cancelled on October 14. 22170 Santragachi-Rani Kamalapati Humsafar Express: Cancelled on October 15. 22163 Bhopal-Khajuraho & 22164 Khajuraho-Bhopal Mahamana Express: Both cancelled on October 15. * Multiple MEMU services, including those on the Bina-Ruthiyai, Bina-Katni Murwara, and Lalitpur-Bina routes, are also cancelled on various dates through October 16.
Key Trains on Diverted Routes
To ensure connectivity, at least 17 long-distance express trains will be redirected via alternate routes. Passengers should note that these diversions will likely lead to longer journey times and will bypass usual stops. Notable diversions include: 12185 Rewa-Rani Kamalapati Rewanchal Express: Will run via Katni, Jabalpur, and Itarsi from October 8 to 14. The return service (12186) will use the same diverted route. 11703 Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express: Will be diverted via Bina Malkhedi, Guna, and Maksi on October 8, 11, and 13. The return service (11704) will follow this diversion on October 9, 12, and 14. 13025 Howrah-Bhopal Weekly Express: Will run via New Katni, Katni South, Jabalpur, and Itarsi on October 12. The return service (13026) is diverted via the same route on October 14. 22165 Bhopal-Singrauli Express: Will operate via Itarsi, Jabalpur, and Katni South on October 10, 13, and 14. The return train (22166) will be diverted on October 9 and 13.
Short-Terminations and Changes in Origin
Several services will not complete their full journey, instead terminating at or originating from alternate stations. This primarily affects local passenger and MEMU trains. For instance, the 11602 Katni-Bina MEMU will terminate at Khurai from September 29 to October 15, and its return service (11601) will originate from Khurai from September 30 to October 16. Similarly, the Kota-Bina and Bina-Kota MEMU services will be short-terminated at Mahadevkhedi Junction and originate from Mungawali, respectively. Some passenger trains will be extended to or from Malkhedi to bypass Bina station entirely.
