Road. Launched on September 3, 2026, this service addresses a long-standing demand from passengers for a reliable, daily link that originates from the city's primary railway hub. Previously, many services to the Konkan either originated from other terminals like Dadar or Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) or were limited to weekly or special festive runs. This new daily train signifies a major boost in connectivity, promising to ease the perennial travel rush and provide a consistent option for both regular commuters and tourists.
The Route: Key Towns Now Closer
The new CSMT-Sawantwadi Road express is designed to connect a string of important towns and cities along the Konkan coast. After departing from CSMT, the train makes halts at key suburban stations like Dadar and Thane before proceeding to Panvel, the gateway to the Konkan Railway network. From there, its route includes major stops such as Roha, Mangaon, Khed, Chiplun, and the district headquarters of Ratnagiri.
