Booking Your Free Entry
Entry to Amrit Udyan is free of cost for all visitors, but advance online booking is mandatory. There is no provision for on-the-spot booking or walk-in registration. You must reserve your slot through the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website. Bookings for a particular day close at 10:00 AM on the preceding day, making it crucial to plan ahead, especially for weekend visits. You can book for a maximum of six people on a single ticket. The entry and exit point for all visitors is Gate No. 35 of Rashtrapati Bhavan, located on North Avenue Road. The most convenient way to reach the venue is by Delhi Metro. The nearest station is Central Secretariat, which is on the Yellow and Violet lines and is about 2 km away. For visitor convenience, a free shuttle bus service runs from Gate No. 4 of the Central Secretariat Metro Station to the Amrit Udyan entry point every 30 minutes, from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. If travelling by bus, the RML Hospital bus stop is less than a kilometre away.
Know What's Allowed Inside
Security is strict, and several items are prohibited to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone. Visitors are not allowed to carry eatables, backpacks, cameras, or video cameras. However, mobile phones are permitted, so you can still capture memories of your visit. You may also carry wallets, purses, small handbags, and water bottles. These rules help maintain the garden's pristine condition and ensure security within the high-profile estate.
Highlights of the Summer Edition
This opening of Amrit Udyan showcases a variety of summer annuals and indigenous Indian flowering plants, such as Gul-Mehndi and Aparajita. A special attraction for this season is the newly introduced 'Babbling Brook', a landscaped water feature with a gentle stream and a reflecting pool designed to be a peaceful retreat. For younger visitors, the Bal Vatika is a dedicated children's garden featuring a 225-year-old Sheesham tree and a treehouse. Other key areas include the Bonsai Garden, the Circular Garden, and the Herbal Garden, offering a diverse horticultural experience.
Facilities for Visitors
To ensure a comfortable visit, several facilities are available along the designated route. These include drinking water stalls, restrooms, and first-aid posts. There are also rain shelters provided along the pathways, which is a thoughtful addition during the monsoon season. Special visiting days are also designated for specific groups; this year, August 29 is reserved for sportspersons and September 5 for teachers.
