the USA, UK, Schengen Agreement member states, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, and the Republic of Korea. This facility is designed for both tourist and business travellers who already possess one of these visas. If you do not have one of these specific multiple-entry visas, you will need to apply for a standard visa or an e-visa for your trip. The policy was announced to boost tourism and business ties between the two nations.
Secure Your Onward or Return Ticket
A crucial requirement for using the 30-day visa-free facility is proof of travel out of Uzbekistan. All eligible travellers must hold a confirmed onward or return air ticket. This ticket must show your departure from Uzbekistan within the 30-day limit to either your country of origin or a third country. This is a standard check at immigration to ensure visitors comply with the duration of stay permitted under the visa-free rule. Without this documentation, you may be denied entry even if you meet the visa criteria.
Check Your Passport’s Validity
Before any international travel, checking your passport is a fundamental step. For entry into Uzbekistan, most authorities recommend that your passport be valid for at least six months from your intended date of entry. While some sources mention a three-month validity period, the six-month rule is the safest standard to follow for international travel to avoid any issues at immigration. Additionally, ensure your passport has at least one or two blank pages for entry and exit stamps.
Understand the Mandatory Registration Rule
One of the most overlooked requirements for travel to Uzbekistan is mandatory registration. All foreign visitors must be registered with the local authorities. This rule applies whether you enter visa-free or with a visa. If you stay in licensed hotels, hostels, or guesthouses, this process is handled for you automatically at check-in. The hotel registers your stay electronically and provides you with a registration slip or confirmation, which you should keep until you depart. Registration is generally required if your stay exceeds 72 hours. If you are staying in a private residence like an Airbnb or with friends, you or your host are responsible for completing the registration online through the official E-mehmon portal. Failure to register can lead to fines upon departure.
Prepare for Other Standard Checks
Even with visa-free access, be prepared for standard border procedures. It is highly recommended to carry proof of accommodation, such as hotel bookings. While not always requested, having sufficient funds to cover your stay is another standard expectation for international travel. Travel insurance is also strongly recommended to cover any unforeseen medical or travel-related issues. Finally, be aware of customs regulations, especially concerning the import of medicines and drones, which have strict rules in Uzbekistan. It's wise to carry a doctor's prescription for any personal medication and declare it.
