Understanding the Free Visa Offer
To boost tourism from one of its most important international markets, Abu Dhabi will cover the UAE entry visa fee for eligible Indian travellers. This is a pilot programme, not a blanket visa-free travel policy. Travellers still need to go through the standard
visa application process, but the cost, approximately AED 285, is covered by DCT Abu Dhabi when booking a qualifying holiday package. The initiative is designed as a travel trade promotion, meaning you cannot apply for a visa independently and seek reimbursement later. The offer is valid for travel that takes place between August 1 and October 31, 2026. Importantly, the entire trip must be completed by the October 31 deadline.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
The eligibility criteria for this programme are clear and specific. To qualify, you must meet all of the following conditions: hold a valid Indian passport, be departing from India, and book a complete holiday package. This package must include a return flight from India and a hotel stay of at least three consecutive nights in Abu Dhabi. A flight-only or hotel-only booking will not qualify for the complimentary visa offer. The promotion is part of a pilot scheme limited to an initial 20,000 visas, so confirming availability with your travel partner before booking is crucial.
Participating Travel Partners
This offer is only accessible when booking through designated travel partners and online travel agencies (OTAs) that have partnered with DCT Abu Dhabi for this promotion. You cannot claim this benefit by booking directly with airlines or hotels that are not part of the scheme. The list of participating partners includes major names in the Indian travel industry, ensuring wide accessibility. Some of the approved travel partners are: MakeMyTrip, Thomas Cook India / SOTC, Thrillophilia, Akbar Holidays, PickYourTrail, Kesari Tours, Riya Travel, Holiday Tribe, Utazzo Holidays, Royal Tours India, and Aaryan Leisure & Holidays. Before finalising any payment, it is essential to confirm with the agency that your chosen package qualifies for the complimentary visa programme.
How to Claim the Benefit
The process for availing the free visa cost is handled entirely through the participating travel partner. Once you select a qualifying holiday package that meets the minimum three-night stay and includes return flights, your travel agent will manage the visa application process. They will either process the visa through a DCT-appointed Destination Management Company (DMC), where the cost is covered directly, or receive a reimbursement of AED 285 for each qualifying visa. For the traveller, this means the visa fee should simply not be included in the final package price. Standard visa processing times and UAE immigration rules still apply.
Not to Be Confused with Visa on Arrival
It's important to distinguish this tourism promotion from the UAE's separate visa-on-arrival facility. Eligibility for one does not grant eligibility for the other. The visa-on-arrival option is available to Indian passport holders who meet specific conditions, such as holding a valid visa from certain other countries. This free visa cost initiative, however, is a tourism promotion tied to booking a specific type of holiday package through partner agencies. It is designed to make package holidays to Abu Dhabi more attractive and financially accessible for a broader range of tourists from India.
