An All-Inclusive Indochina Adventure
IRCTC has introduced an eight-day, seven-night international tour named "Wonders of Vietnam & Cambodia," departing from Chennai. This follows the successful launch of a similar package from Bengaluru, catering to the growing interest in these destinations.
The tour is designed as an all-inclusive experience, bundling return airfare, hotel accommodation, meals, local transport, visa charges, and travel insurance, offering a hassle-free way to explore two of Southeast Asia's most captivating countries.
A Glimpse of the Itinerary
The journey is scheduled to run from November 17 to November 25, 2026. Travellers will depart from Chennai International Airport on an overnight flight to Da Nang, Vietnam. The Vietnamese leg of the tour covers key destinations including Da Nang, where you will see the Marble Mountains and the famous Golden Bridge in the Ba Na Hills. The itinerary also includes a visit to the charming Hoi An Ancient Town, a flight to the capital city of Hanoi to see the Temple of Literature and Hoan Kiem Lake, and an overnight cruise on the stunning Ha Long Bay, complete with kayaking or a bamboo boat ride. On the sixth day, the group will fly from Hanoi to Siem Reap in Cambodia to explore the magnificent, world-renowned Angkor Wat temple complex before returning to Chennai.
Breaking Down the Cost
The headline price of around ₹1.5 lakh is the starting point. The official cost varies based on occupancy. For double occupancy, the price is ₹1,53,750 per person, while a single traveller will pay ₹1,75,200. A triple-sharing option is also available at ₹1,51,250. The package for a child (5-11 years) with an extra bed is priced at ₹1,31,500. These prices are comprehensive, covering economy class air tickets, accommodation in 3-star hotels, specified meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), all sightseeing entrance fees, and the guidance of an English-speaking tour guide. Crucially, the costs for both the Vietnam and Cambodia visas are included, along with travel insurance for travellers up to the age of 79.
What Is Not Included?
As with most tour packages, certain expenses are not covered in the quoted price. Travellers should budget separately for personal expenses such as shopping, laundry, and telephone calls. Any meals or optional tours and excursions that are not explicitly mentioned in the official itinerary will also be at your own cost. Furthermore, tips for guides, drivers, and hotel staff are typically not included and are an expected courtesy in the tourism industry. IRCTC also notes that any changes or cancellations by airlines that affect the itinerary are not eligible for a refund, and the airfare for infants is to be paid directly to the airline.
Is This Tour Right for You?
This package is ideal for those who want to experience the highlights of Vietnam and Cambodia without the stress of planning complex logistics. It suits first-time international travellers, families, and even solo adventurers who prefer the safety and structure of a group tour. The convenience of having flights, accommodation, visas, and a detailed sightseeing schedule arranged by a single operator is a significant advantage. It allows travellers to immerse themselves in the culture and history, from the ancient Hindu-inspired temples of Angkor Wat to the French colonial architecture of Hanoi, all within a compact and well-organised trip.
