Local models, while capable, may not have the same level of reasoning or creative ability. Furthermore, all LLMs, whether local or cloud-based, can sometimes provide incorrect information or 'hallucinate' facts, so it's crucial for students to verify important information from reliable sources. The initial setup can also present a technical hurdle for those not comfortable with installing new software.
