Gemini, and Notion AI for a wide range of academic tasks. They use them to summarise dense textbook chapters, brainstorm ideas for projects, practise questions for competitive exams, and even improve their writing with assistants like Grammarly AI. For technical subjects, Wolfram Alpha provides step-by-step solutions to complex problems, while tools like Quizlet use AI to generate flashcards and personalised study plans. This is not just about getting answers; it is about learning more efficiently. Students report using these tools as interactive tutors, allowing them to ask follow-up questions and understand difficult concepts at their own pace, something a traditional search engine cannot do.
AI as a Personalised Tutor
The most significant promise of AI in education is its potential for personalisation, a crucial factor in a country with over 250 million school students. AI-powered platforms can adapt to an individual's learning speed, offering tailored exercises and resources. For students preparing for hyper-competitive exams like JEE and NEET, AI tools can generate unlimited practice problems, identify patterns in errors, and suggest targeted areas for improvement. The rise of AI also brings significant ethical challenges, with academic integrity being the foremost concern. The line between using AI as a helpful assistant and using it to cheat can be blurry.
