When pressed, it doesn't just send a text; it transmits a distress signal and your precise GPS coordinates to a dedicated international emergency response coordination center. This center then alerts and coordinates with the most appropriate local authorities, which in India could include local rescue teams, the forest department, or even air force units. For a hiker who is injured, lost, or caught in a dangerous situation like a flash flood, this function can reduce rescue times from days to mere hours by telling rescuers exactly where to look.
