But is this premium experience truly 'on a budget'? The term is relative, but the value proposition is strong. A ticket on the Kalka-Shimla Vistadome train, the Him Darshan Express, costs around ₹630 per person. In Kashmir, the journey is priced at approximately ₹960. While these fares are higher than a standard second-class ticket, they are comparable to an executive chair car on a Shatabdi Express. When you compare this cost to hiring a private taxi for a multi-hour scenic drive through the mountains—which would be significantly more expensive and arguably less comfortable—the Vistadome offers a compelling alternative.
