These include United Spirits' Antiquity Blue Whisky and Royal Challenge Whisky, as well as Inbrew Beverages' Bagpiper Deluxe Whisky and Old Cask Deluxe XXX Rum. The authority also issued a prohibition order against M/s Vatave Health Care, banning its 'Folineuro Syrup'. In another action targeting health supplements, FSSAI restricted the sale of 'Neuherbs True Vitamin' from Global Healthfit Retail India. These actions follow inspections and laboratory tests that revealed significant violations of India's food safety laws.
Pesticides, Misleading Flavours, and False Claims
The reasons for the crackdown are varied and specific to each product. 'Wonderland Raisins' were recalled after lab tests confirmed the presence of pesticide residues exceeding the legally prescribed limits, rendering the product "unsafe" for consumption. The action against the whisky and rum brands stemmed from the use of misleading additives.
