of a direct flight by Alliance Air from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport to Daman's NAMO Airport. What was once a full day of travel is now a convenient journey of about three hours, transforming Daman from a distant destination into a viable weekend retreat. This new route, part of a push for regional connectivity, means more time on the beach and less time in transit.
The Lay of the Land
First-time visitors should know that Daman is a city of two halves, physically and historically split by the Daman Ganga River. On one side lies Nani Daman (Little Daman) and on the other, Moti Daman (Big Daman). While the airport is conveniently located, your hotel and the attractions you want to see might not be. Key sights like the historic Moti Daman Fort, the Cathedral of Bom Jesus, and St. Jerome Fort are spread out. The popular beaches, like the serene Jampore Beach with its dark sand and the lively Devka Beach, are located in different areas, sometimes several kilometres from the main forts and city centres. A reliable mode of transport becomes even more crucial if you plan to use Daman as a base for exploring the wider region. The neighbouring Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, with its capital Silvassa, offers lush greenery and wildlife experiences. Having a car and driver at your disposal for a day can turn a simple beach holiday into a multi-destination adventure. Arranging this through a pre-booked service is often more convenient and cost-effective than negotiating multiple one-off trips with local taxis. It gives you the freedom to explore at your own pace, without worrying about how you’ll get back to your hotel.
