Monsoon Opening: Dates & Timings
This year, the Summer Annuals Edition of Amrit Udyan is open to the public from August 16 to September 15, 2026. It’s a special window to experience the gardens in their monsoon glory. The Udyan is open from 10 am to 6 pm, Tuesday through Sunday. Remember
that the last entry is at 5 pm, so plan your arrival accordingly. The gardens remain closed every Monday for regular maintenance.
Booking Is a Must: How to Get Tickets
Entry to Amrit Udyan is completely free, but securing a spot requires advance planning. All visits must be booked online through the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website. On-the-spot bookings are not available, so do not arrive without a confirmed digital ticket. You can book a slot for up to six people in a single transaction. Bookings for a specific day close at 10 am on the previous day, so it’s best to reserve your slot well in advance, especially for weekends.
Getting There and Entry Protocol
Visitors must use Gate No. 35 on North Avenue Road for both entry and exit. The nearest metro station is Central Secretariat. For convenience, a shuttle bus service runs every 30 minutes between the metro station and the entry gate, from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. When you arrive, be prepared to show your digital ticket on your mobile phone along with a valid photo ID for verification.
What to See During the Monsoon Visit
The monsoon edition, also known as Udyan Utsav-II, showcases a different side of the gardens. The focus shifts to summer annuals and a lush, rain-fed landscape. Key areas open to visitors include the Central Lawn, Bonsai Garden, and Circular Garden. This season's main attraction includes a diverse collection of indigenous and native flowering plants like Balsam (Gul-mehndi), Aparajita, and Gomphrena. A new feature for 2026 is the Babbling Brook, a landscaped water feature that is particularly beautiful during this season.
Tips for a Rainy Day Visit
Visiting a garden during the monsoon requires some preparation. Officials have confirmed that amenities like drinking water stalls, first-aid posts, and restrooms will be available. Crucially, rain shelters have been set up along the visiting route to offer protection from sudden downpours. Umbrellas are permitted inside. It is highly advisable to wear comfortable, water-resistant footwear as some pathways can get slippery or waterlogged. Only essential items like phones, small purses, and transparent water bottles are typically allowed, so pack light.
