Microsoft's India Development Center in Hyderabad is its biggest R&D facility outside of its US headquarters. This influx of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) has been significant, with Hyderabad's share of India's GCC ecosystem growing impressively in recent years. Academia as the Talent Engine

The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad (IIIT-H) is a standout, consistently ranked as a leading institution in India for AI and robotics research. IIIT-H is home to specialised research centers like the Kohli Centre on Intelligent Systems and is a key partner in national initiatives like BharatGen, which aims to build India-specific Large Language Models (LLMs). IIT Hyderabad also plays a crucial role, being one of the first institutes in the world to launch a B.Tech program in Artificial Intelligence. These institutions not only produce thousands of industry-ready graduates annually but also contribute significantly to the research landscape, with a high percentage of India's AI-related patents and publications originating from Telangana.

This growth is fostered by world-class incubators like T-Hub, one of the world's largest, which provides startups with mentorship, funding, and networking opportunities. The Telangana AI Mission's 'Revv Up' accelerator program is another key initiative, offering early-stage AI startups access to mentorship and even free high-performance computing resources through partnerships with institutions like C-DAC and IIT Hyderabad. According to a Naukri JobSpeak report, Hyderabad recorded the highest growth in AI/ML hiring among major Indian cities in August 2026, with a 48% year-on-year increase.
