festive seasons like Holi, Diwali, and Chhath Puja, the demand for tickets skyrockets. Trains like the Gorakhdham Express and Vaishali Express are consistently oversubscribed, leaving passengers to contend with long waitlists and the uncertainty of last-minute travel. The situation often leads to severe overcrowding, with passengers enduring difficult conditions just to get home. This constant struggle has made the announcement of any new service a significant event for daily commuters and occasional travellers alike.
Introducing the Amrit Bharat Express
In a move to address this high demand, Indian Railways has regularised a new weekly train service. The North Eastern Railway has announced that the former Gorakhpur-Delhi Special (05057/05058) will now run as a regular Amrit Bharat Express. This service is specifically designed to provide an affordable and reliable travel option. The regularisation, effective from August 27, 2026, formalises the train's schedule and integrates it into the primary railway network, offering passengers a more predictable and plannable option. This new service is expected to improve connectivity and add much-needed capacity to the route.
Your New Weekly Schedule
The key to planning is knowing the schedule. Train No. 15095 will depart from Gorakhpur Junction every Thursday at 10:45 PM, arriving at Delhi Junction at 12:50 PM the next day. This makes for a convenient overnight journey into the capital. For the return trip, Train No. 15096 will leave Delhi Junction every Friday at 2:10 PM, reaching Gorakhpur at 6:30 AM the following Saturday morning. This schedule provides a weekly round-trip option that can be booked in advance, taking some pressure off the daily express trains that run on this corridor.
Connecting Key Cities En Route
This train doesn't just connect the two terminal cities; it also serves several important towns and junctions along the way, enhancing regional connectivity. The eight official stops between Gorakhpur and Delhi are Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda Junction, Burhwal Junction, Sitapur Junction, Bareilly Junction, Moradabad Junction, and Ghaziabad Junction. This route provides a direct weekly connection for passengers from these intermediate stations who previously had to rely on the often-packed long-distance trains passing through. The stop at Gonda, in particular, is a major junction, and the halt in Moradabad provides another key link for travellers in western Uttar Pradesh.

The introduction of the Amrit Bharat Express is more than just another train on the timetable. It represents a concrete step toward alleviating the congestion that has long defined this route. While a single weekly service cannot solve the entire capacity problem, it adds thousands of additional berths each month, offering a tangible alternative to a waitlisted ticket.
