Another key project, the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, is set to reduce travel time between the two cities to under an hour, boosting connectivity to the Dholera Special Investment Region.
Boosting Regional and Tourist Connectivity
The infrastructure push extends beyond major trunk routes, with a strong focus on improving regional and last-mile connectivity. New railway lines are being developed to connect remote and tribal areas, such as the Jobat-Tanda Road line, which will bring Alirajpur onto the national rail network for the first time. A new passenger train service between Vadodara and Tanda Road is also being launched. In South Gujarat, a ₹1,185 crore plan is underway to upgrade roads leading to tourist destinations in Dang, Valsad, and Surat districts. This will improve access to eco-tourism spots like Saputara and Wilson Hills, as well as heritage sites like the Dandi Heritage Route. In Kutch, a new railway line has been sanctioned to connect tourist hotspots like the Rann of Kutch and the Harappan site of Dholavira, making these culturally rich areas more accessible.
