flash floods is vast. Simply knowing it might rain isn't enough; you need to understand the type of rain expected. Key factors to look for are rainfall intensity (how hard it will rain), duration (how long it will last), and any associated weather warnings. This granular information helps you decide whether to proceed, delay your start, or choose an alternative route, turning a potentially hazardous situation into a well-informed travel decision. Decoding IMD Colour-Coded Alerts

However, technology is only one part of the solution. Before traversing tricky sections, especially mountain passes like Malshej Ghat or routes in Munnar, always consult local sources. Dhabas, local taxi drivers, and guesthouses often have the most current information about road conditions, landslides, or sudden blockages that won't appear on an app. This combination of high-tech data and on-the-ground human intelligence is the gold standard for monsoon road trip safety.
