The period from October to March is widely considered the best time to visit Lakshadweep. Following the heavy monsoon season, which typically runs from June to September, autumn Ushers in a calmer, more accessible paradise. The seas become placid, making
inter-island boat travel reliable and comfortable. Underwater visibility improves dramatically, often reaching 30 to 40 metres, creating exceptional conditions for scuba diving and snorkelling. The Mandatory Entry Permit

Then, you can start a new application under the 'Tourist' category. You will also need to upload scanned copies of a valid photo ID (such as an Aadhaar card) and a recent passport-sized photograph. It is crucial to apply at least 14 days before your scheduled travel. Once submitted, you can track the status of your application online and will receive the approved permit via email.
Getting There: Flights and Ferries
Your journey to this archipelago will almost certainly begin with a flight to Agatti Island, which hosts the only airstrip in Lakshadweep. Flights operate from Kochi, taking approximately an hour and a half. Once you land in Agatti, you can travel to Kavaratti, the administrative capital. The primary mode of transport between these islands is by boat or ferry, a journey that can take between 2.5 to 6 hours depending on the vessel and sea conditions. These transfers are operated by the Lakshadweep Administration and need to be confirmed in advance, often through your tour operator or accommodation provider. During the monsoon season, a helicopter service may be available between Agatti and Kavaratti, but this is subject to availability. Passenger ships also operate from Kochi to the islands, a longer journey of 14 to 20 hours.
