Why Are Trains Being Diverted?
The diversions are necessary to facilitate major yard remodelling and non-interlocking work at Bina and Agasod stations. This is part of a larger project by West Central Railway to connect the third railway line between Bina and Agasod. This kind of work involves
complex signalling and track upgrades that cannot be done while regular traffic is running. While these changes may cause temporary inconvenience, they are essential for improving the safety, reliability, and punctuality of train services in the long run. The work is scheduled to take place in phases until October 15, 2026, impacting several key services passing through the region.
The Key Zone: Bina-Agasod Section
The epicentre of this disruption is the Bina-Agasod section, which falls under the West Central Railway. The upgrades here are aimed at increasing the track capacity to handle rising rail traffic more efficiently. Consequently, trains that would normally pass through Bina will be rerouted via other major junctions like Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni South, Nagda, and Kota, depending on their destination. This means journey times may change, and passengers should be prepared for alternate routes during the specified dates.
Bhopal-Jodhpur and Veraval-Jabalpur Services
The Bhopal-Jodhpur corridor sees significant changes. Train No. 14814 Bhopal-Jodhpur Express will be diverted via Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Maksi Junction, Nagda, and Kota from October 1 to 15. Its return service, Train No. 14813 Jodhpur-Bhopal Express, will follow the same alternate route from October 1 to 14. Additionally, Train No. 11465 Veraval-Jabalpur Express will be diverted via the Bhopal-Itarsi route on October 10 and 12, with the return service (Train No. 11466) also using this diversion on October 9 and 12.
Rewa and Rewanchal Express Trains
Services to and from Rewa are also on the diversion list. Train No. 11703 Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Tri-Weekly Express is set to run via Bina Malkhedi, Mahadevkhedi, Guna, Ruthiyai, and Maksi on October 8, 11, and 13. The corresponding return train (No. 11704) will take the same diverted route in the opposite direction on October 9, 12, and 14. The popular Rewanchal Express is also affected. From October 8 to 14, Train No. 12185 Rewa-Rani Kamalapati Express and Train No. 12186 Rani Kamalapati-Rewa Express will both be rerouted via Katni, Jabalpur, and Itarsi Junction.
Services via Itarsi and New Katni Junction
Several other trains will be rerouted through Itarsi, Jabalpur, and New Katni Junction. Train No. 13025 Howrah-Bhopal Weekly Express is diverted on October 12, with its return service (No. 13026) diverted on October 14. The Bhopal-Dhanbad Tri-Weekly Express (No. 11631 and 11632) will use this alternate route on October 9, 12, and 15. The Bhopal-Chopan Weekly Express (No. 11633 and 11634) is diverted on October 11 and 12. Similarly, the Bhopal-Singrauli Express (No. 22165) will be diverted on October 10, 13, and 14, while its return service (No. 22166) takes the alternate path on October 9 and 13.

If you are scheduled to travel on one of these trains, it is crucial to stay updated. Indian Railways advises all passengers to check the status of their train before starting their journey. You can do this through the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) website or app, or by calling the railway helpline at 139. As routes are significantly altered, be prepared for potential changes in journey duration. These upgrades are part of a nationwide effort to modernise the railway network, but they require careful planning from travellers during the transition period.
