A Final Call for Nation Builders
A career with the Indian Space Research Organisation is more than just a job; it is an opportunity to contribute to India's journey of space exploration and technological self-reliance. From launching satellites that power communication and weather forecasting
to embarking on ambitious interplanetary missions, ISRO's work has a direct impact on the nation. Today marks the final opportunity for a new batch of talent to join this mission, specifically for the coveted Scientist/Engineer 'SC' positions. These roles are the backbone of ISRO's research and development activities, placing successful candidates at the heart of India’s space programme. With the deadline set for midnight, eligible and interested individuals must act swiftly to seize this chance to work at various ISRO centres across the country, including Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Thiruvananthapuram.
Key Positions and Disciplines
This recruitment drive is primarily focused on filling 93 Scientist/Engineer 'SC' vacancies across several key engineering disciplines. The openings are available for candidates with backgrounds in Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, and Architecture. These positions are classified as Group 'A' Gazetted posts, holding a Level 10 pay matrix designation. The vacancies are spread across various ISRO centres and units, such as the U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC) in Bengaluru, the Space Applications Centre (SAC) in Ahmedabad, and the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, ensuring that new recruits are placed at the forefront of innovation.
Essential Academic and Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, candidates must possess a BE/B.Tech or an equivalent degree in the relevant engineering discipline with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. A crucial requirement for this specific recruitment is a valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 score in the corresponding subject. The age limit for most posts is 28 years as of August 17, 2026, with relaxations applicable for OBC, SC/ST, and other reserved categories as per government norms. It's important for applicants to ensure their degree specialisation exactly matches the requirements stated in the official notification, as related fields may not be considered eligible. Candidates currently employed by government or public sector bodies must obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to be presented at the interview stage.
How to Apply Before the Deadline
All applications must be submitted online through the official ISRO website, isro.gov.in, before the portal closes tonight. The process requires candidates to register on the careers portal, where they will receive a unique registration number to be saved for future reference. Applicants need to carefully fill in all personal and academic details and provide a valid email address for communication. The application portal can also be accessed by candidates registered on the National Career Service (NCS) portal. High website traffic is common on the final day, so it is highly advisable to complete the process early to avoid any last-minute technical glitches or payment failures.
Understanding the Selection Process
There is no written test for this particular recruitment drive. Instead, ISRO will shortlist candidates for a personal interview based on their GATE scores. The shortlisting will be done in a 1:7 ratio for each vacancy. The final selection for roles in Electronics, Mechanical, and Computer Science will be determined by giving 50% weightage to the GATE score and 50% to the performance in the personal interview. The interview is designed to assess a candidate's technical knowledge, comprehension, and communication skills. Candidates who are shortlisted for the interview will be eligible for travel reimbursement for second-class sleeper train fare, as per ISRO rules.
