Ignoring these signs is dangerous, as heat exhaustion can progress to a life-threatening heatstroke.
Tips for a Smarter Monsoon Commute
Protecting yourself is about being prepared and adjusting your habits. First, slow down. Rushing generates more heat, so leave a little earlier to allow for a calmer travel pace. Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing made from breathable fabrics like cotton to allow for better air circulation. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, not just when you feel thirsty. If you can, pack a change of clothes to switch into when you arrive at your destination. Finally, pay attention to your body. If you start to feel dizzy or overly fatigued, find a cooler place to rest and drink some water immediately.
