The Kevadiya railway station itself is India’s first with a Green Building certification, making the journey's end as impressive as the destination. Daily trains like the Jan Shatabdi Express from Ahmedabad, which features a Vista-dome coach for panoramic views, make it an ideal day trip or weekend escape. The new lines, including the converted Dabhoi-Chandod track and the new line to Kevadia, have been designed to boost tourism and provide access to nearby pilgrimage sites along the Narmada River, such as Karnali and Garudeshwar.

Recent updates in September 2026 confirm that the main transit hub in Ahmedabad is nearing completion, with trial runs anticipated in 2027. The corridor will have several stops within Gujarat, including Vadodara, Anand, Bharuch, and Surat, effectively bringing coastal Maharashtra within easy reach for a quick weekend trip. The first section between Surat and Bilimora is expected to become operational first, offering a glimpse into the future of high-speed rail travel in India.

Gauge conversion and line doubling projects are making the culturally rich regions of Saurashtra and Kutch more accessible. The recently completed doubling of the Kanalus-Jamnagar line enhances connectivity to the pilgrimage city of Dwarka. The 'Garvi Gujarat' tour is a dedicated circuit that covers key heritage and spiritual sites, including the Statue of Unity, Somnath, Dwarka, and UNESCO sites like Rani ki Vav in Patan and Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park.
