A New Daily Connection to the Coast
In a significant move to enhance regional connectivity, Indian Railways has given the green light for a new daily express train between Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Sawantwadi Road. This service, operating as Train No. 15087
from Mumbai and 15088 on the return, will traverse the 510-kilometre route permanently, unlike previous seasonal specials. The decision addresses a long-standing demand from passengers for more reliable transport options on the busy Konkan corridor. Railway officials have stated the new train is expected to support regional economic development and facilitate smoother passenger movement. While an official launch date is still to be announced, efforts are reportedly underway to start the service by the Ganeshotsav festival.
