Why This Look Is Trending Now
Across India, there's a noticeable shift away from the heavy, full-coverage makeup that once dominated bridal and festive seasons. Today, the focus is on enhancing natural beauty, not masking it. This trend champions a 'skin-first' philosophy, where makeup serves
to complement healthy skin. A skin-like base lets natural texture show through, while a pop of peach adds life and warmth. It's a look that feels both modern and perfectly suited to India's humid climate, where less product often means more comfort and longevity. Minimalist and 'no-makeup' makeup approaches are gaining popularity, focusing on dewy finishes and a youthful, healthy appearance.
The Secret to a 'Skin-Like' Base
The foundation of this look is a base that mimics real skin. The goal is not to erase every imperfection but to even out the skin tone while remaining undetectable. This starts with good skin preparation. Before any makeup, cleanse and apply a lightweight moisturiser to ensure a smooth canvas. Instead of a heavy, full-coverage foundation, opt for a skin tint, BB cream, or a luminous, light-to-medium coverage foundation. The key is to choose a formula that allows your skin to breathe. Apply a few dots to the center of your face and blend outwards using your fingers. The warmth from your hands helps the product melt seamlessly into the skin for the most natural finish. Use a concealer only where needed for spot correction, such as under the eyes or on blemishes, rather than applying it all over.
Finding Your Perfect Peach
Peach is a wonderfully versatile shade that brings a natural-looking warmth to a wide range of Indian skin tones. Unlike cool pinks that can sometimes look ashy on warm undertones, peach complements the natural golden or yellow hues present in most Indian complexions. For fair skin, a soft, light peach or apricot adds a delicate glow. Medium or 'wheatish' skin tones are beautifully enhanced by deeper peaches, muted corals, and warm terracottas. For deeper skin tones, a more pigmented, vibrant peach or a shade with bronze undertones will provide a radiant flush without looking chalky. The key is to find a shade that mimics a natural, sun-kissed glow.
How to Apply for a Natural Flush
The application is just as important as the shade. For this fresh-faced look, a cream or liquid blush is often preferred over powder because it melts into the skin and enhances the dewy, skin-like finish. Warm a small amount of product on the back of your hand. Using your fingers or a damp beauty sponge, gently tap the blush onto the apples of your cheeks. Instead of swirling in circles, blend the colour upwards and outwards along your cheekbones, towards your temples. This technique lifts the face and creates a flush that looks like it’s coming from within. You can also apply a tiny amount across the bridge of your nose for a youthful, sun-kissed effect.
Completing the Fresh-Faced Look
To keep the focus on the fresh skin and cheeks, the rest of the makeup should remain minimal. For eyes, a simple coat of mascara and perhaps a touch of neutral eyeshadow is all you need. Brows can be lightly filled in for definition but should still look natural. For lips, you can use the same cream blush you used on your cheeks, tapping it on for a soft stain of colour. Alternatively, a tinted lip balm or a nude lipstick one shade deeper than your natural lip colour will complete the look beautifully. To make your makeup last, use a setting spray with a dewy finish, or selectively apply a light dusting of translucent powder only to your T-zone to control shine without sacrificing the glow on your cheeks.
