The Reason For Route Changes
Travellers with plans on Indian Railways in October should take note of several operational changes. The West Central Railway has confirmed that major pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work is scheduled, primarily impacting routes around the Bina
and Agasod stations. This work is essential for connecting a new third railway line between Bina station (West Central Railway) and Agasod station (North Central Railway), a project aimed at increasing capacity and improving train movement in the long run. The work is being carried out in phases, with the most significant disruptions for long-distance trains scheduled for various dates between late September and October 15, 2026. As a result, 17 train services will be temporarily operated on diverted routes to ensure safety and facilitate the engineering work.
An Overview of Affected Services
The diversions will affect numerous popular long-distance services that pass through the busy Bina-Bhopal corridor. Passengers travelling on key routes connecting cities like Rewa, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Jodhpur, and Veraval will need to pay close attention to the revised paths for their trains. Some of the prominent trains facing diversion include the Rewanchal Express, Gondwana Express, and services linking Madhya Pradesh with Gujarat and Rajasthan. While the primary change for these 17 services is diversion, railway authorities have also announced other adjustments across the network, including some cancellations and rescheduled departure times for other trains due to separate maintenance works.
Rewa and Jabalpur Services Diverted
Passengers travelling to and from the Rewa and Jabalpur regions will see significant changes. The Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Tri-Weekly Express (Train No. 11703) will be diverted via Bina Malkhedi, Mahadevkhedi, Guna, Ruthiyai, and Maksi on its journeys dated October 8, 11, and 13. In the return direction, the Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Rewa Tri-Weekly Express (Train No. 11704) will follow the same diverted path on October 9, 12, and 14. Furthermore, the daily Rewanchal Express services will also be rerouted. The Rewa-Rani Kamalapati Rewanchal Express (Train No. 12185) and the Rani Kamalapati-Rewa Rewanchal Express (Train No. 12186) will both run via Katni, Jabalpur, and Itarsi from October 8 to October 14.
Changes for Bhopal, Jodhpur and Veraval Trains
Services connecting to Bhopal and beyond are also on the list of diversions. The Jabalpur-Veraval Express (Train No. 11466) will be diverted via the Itarsi-Bhopal route on its journeys on October 9 and 12, with its corresponding service, the Veraval-Jabalpur Express (Train No. 11465), following the same alternate route on October 10 and 12. The daily Bhopal-Jodhpur Express (Train No. 14813) and Jodhpur-Bhopal Express (Train No. 14814) are also slated to run on a changed route during this period. Additionally, the Singrauli-Bhopal Tri-Weekly Express (Train No. 22166) will operate via New Katni Junction, Katni South, Jabalpur, and Itarsi on October 9 and 13.
Other Disruptions to Note
Beyond these 17 diversions, passengers should be aware of other maintenance blocks affecting the network in the same period. For instance, due to yard remodelling at Agasod, the KSR Bengaluru-Lal Kuan Express will face complete cancellation on several dates in October. The Chennai-New Delhi Tamil Nadu Superfast Express will also be diverted, skipping its usual stop at Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi station on certain dates. Separately, a major 10-day traffic block at Ghaziabad station from September 25 to October 4 will result in the cancellation of 18 local EMU and MEMU train services and platform changes for 45 other trains.
