The first major corridor for the Namo Bharat service is the 82.15 km line connecting Delhi with Meerut via Ghaziabad. After a phased rollout, the entire corridor from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to Modipuram in Meerut is now fully operational as of February
2026. This high-speed line is designed to slash travel time between the two cities to under an hour, a significant improvement over road travel. Key stations on this primary route include Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut South, creating a vital economic and commuter link across the National Capital Region. Sarai Kale Khan station, in particular, is a major multi-modal hub, connecting the RRTS with the Delhi Metro, inter-state buses, and the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station.
Train Timings and Frequency
Namo Bharat trains operate daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM across all stations on the Delhi-Meerut line. The frequency of trains varies depending on the time of day. During peak hours, you can expect a train every 15 minutes or so, while off-peak frequency is typically around every 30 minutes. On special occasions and festivals like Raksha Bandhan, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) often increases the number of trips to accommodate the festive rush, sometimes boosting frequency to every eight minutes. The first trains depart from terminal stations like Sarai Kale Khan at 6:00 AM, ensuring early-morning commuters can get a head start on their day.
Fare Structure and How to Buy Tickets
The fare system for Namo Bharat is distance-based, with prices for a standard class journey starting from around ₹20 for short trips and going up to ₹150-₹200 for the full length of the corridor. For example, a trip from Anand Vihar in Delhi to Meerut South costs about ₹130 for a standard coach. The service also offers a Premium class, which provides more spacious seating and access to exclusive lounges at stations. Premium fares are higher; the same Anand Vihar to Meerut South journey would cost around ₹195 in a premium coach. Passengers have multiple ways to purchase tickets. The official 'Namo Bharat Connect' mobile app allows for digital QR ticket generation. Additionally, tickets can be bought at stations using Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) that accept UPI, cards, and cash, or at manual ticket counters.
Onboard Experience and Amenities
Designed for speed and comfort, Namo Bharat trains have an operational speed of 160 km/h. The air-conditioned coaches feature 2x2 seating, ample legroom, and overhead luggage racks. Each train includes a dedicated coach for women and designated spaces for wheelchairs. For passenger convenience, amenities include onboard Wi-Fi, mobile and USB charging points at every seat, and an infotainment display showing route maps and other information. The trains are equipped with modern safety features, including CCTV cameras, an automatic train protection system, and emergency communication facilities to speak with the train operator.
