Key Stretches for Maximum Scenery
While the entire route is scenic, the stretch between Ratnagiri in Maharashtra and Madgaon in Goa is widely considered the most spectacular. This is where the railway line showcases its most impressive feats of engineering, including the Panval Nadi viaduct, one of Asia's tallest. However, to truly maximize the views, consider booking a seat in a Vistadome coach, available on select trains like the Dadar-Madgaon Jan Shatabdi Express. Ensure your journey through the Ratnagiri-Goa section falls during daylight hours. For the best views travelling south from Mumbai, a window seat on the right-hand side is generally recommended.
