The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has added another feather to its cap with the successful launch of EOS-05. This satellite is part of India's growing constellation of remote sensing satellites designed to monitor the planet. Unlike many of its predecessors
that operate in Low Earth Orbit, EOS-05 has been placed in a geosynchronous orbit approximately 36,000 km above the Earth. This high-altitude position allows it to remain stationary over the Indian subcontinent, providing continuous and repeated observation of a vast area. This capability for near-real-time monitoring is a game-changer for many applications crucial to national development and security. Today, India operates one of the world's largest collections of civilian remote sensing satellites, and EOS-05 enhances this formidable network.
Advanced Tools for a Sharper View
