Essential Monsoon Driving Safety
While monsoon drives are beautiful, safety is paramount. Always check your vehicle's vitals before starting: ensure your tyres have adequate tread, brakes are in top condition, and wipers are working perfectly. [12, 14, 15] On the road, reduce your speed significantly and maintain at least double the usual following distance from the vehicle ahead, as braking efficiency is reduced on wet surfaces. [12, 20] Use low-beam headlights during the day for better visibility to others. [14, 24] Avoid driving through deep, standing water, as it can hide potholes or even cause your vehicle to stall or aquaplane. [12, 24] If visibility drops severely, it's always safer to pull over and wait for the downpour to ease. [24]
