An Overview of the Journey
IRCTC Tourism has announced an extensive 8-night, 9-day tour package from Mumbai, designed for travellers who want a planned group experience. Titled “Japan – The Golden Route with Hiroshima,” the tour is scheduled to depart on October 25, 2026, and run
until November 3, 2026. This package takes travellers on a whirlwind tour through some of Japan's most famous cities and landmarks, including Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, and Hiroshima. The journey combines modern cityscapes, serene temples, natural wonders, and a taste of Japan's world-renowned high-speed rail. The return international flights for the tour will be operated by Air India.
From Tokyo's Buzz to Hiroshima's History
The curated itinerary ensures travellers experience the full spectrum of Japanese culture. The tour begins in the bustling capital of Tokyo, where visitors will explore modern marvels like the Tokyo Skytree, the immersive teamLab Planets digital art museum, and the iconic Shibuya Crossing. It also includes visits to traditional sites like the historic Senso-ji Temple. From there, the journey moves towards the majestic Mt. Fuji, with a visit to the 5th Station (weather permitting), a cruise on Lake Ashi, and a ride on the Hakone Ropeway for breathtaking views. A key highlight is the ride on the Shinkansen bullet train to Hiroshima. In Hiroshima, the tour covers the poignant Peace Memorial Park and a visit to Miyajima Island. The itinerary also includes cultural gems in Kyoto and Nara, such as the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove, the Golden Pavilion, Nara Park with its friendly deer, and the Todai-ji Temple.

The cost covers return airfare from Mumbai on Air India, all accommodation in comfortable three-star hotels, and visa processing fees for Japan. It also includes most meals, with daily breakfast along with Indian-style lunches and dinners specified in the itinerary. All ground transportation, sightseeing as per the plan, and entry tickets to the various attractions are part of the deal. Furthermore, the package includes the cost of the Shinkansen bullet train ticket, travel insurance, the services of a local guide, and an IRCTC tour manager who will accompany the group throughout the trip.

The price for this comprehensive tour is set at ₹3,36,200 per person on a twin-sharing basis. There are different pricing tiers for single travellers and children. The cost for single occupancy is ₹4,14,770, while a child with a bed pays the same as an adult on a twin-sharing basis. A child without a bed can join for ₹2,63,200. It is important for prospective travellers to note that an additional 2% Tax Collected at Source (TCS) is applicable on top of these tour fares.
