When Sweat Stops Working

How to Improve Your Bedroom Airflow
Creating better airflow doesn't have to be complicated. Start with these simple strategies: Use Fans Strategically: A ceiling fan pushes air down, while a pedestal fan can be aimed to circulate air across your bed. You can even place a fan facing an open window to pull in cooler night air or push out hot, stale air. Create Cross-Ventilation: If possible, open windows on opposite sides of your room to create a natural breeze. Even opening your bedroom door can help improve air circulation. Choose Breathable Bedding: Synthetic fabrics like polyester can trap heat and moisture. Opt for natural, breathable materials like cotton or linen for your sheets and sleepwear. These fabrics allow air to move freely and help wick moisture away from your skin. Give Yourself Space: Avoid sleeping in a tight curl, which can trap heat. If you share a bed, try to leave a little space between you and your partner to allow air to circulate.
Beyond the Breeze
While airflow is critical, a few other lifestyle adjustments can support a cooler night's sleep. Avoiding large meals, spicy foods, or alcohol close to bedtime can help prevent your body temperature from spiking. Taking a lukewarm shower before bed can also help, as your body will cool down afterwards, which supports the natural temperature drop needed for sleep. If high humidity is a persistent problem, a dehumidifier can be an excellent investment, helping to maintain the ideal humidity level of around 40-50% for sleep.
