A New Weekly Service
Indian Railways has officially regularised the Gorakhpur-Delhi special train, rebranding it as the Amrit Bharat Express. This move establishes a new, formal weekly service connecting Gorakhpur in eastern Uttar Pradesh with the national capital. The introduction
of this train is aimed at enhancing connectivity and providing a more structured travel option for the thousands of passengers, including migrant workers and students, who frequent this high-demand route. The service, which was previously run as a special train, will now operate under new, permanent train numbers—15095 from Gorakhpur to Delhi and 15096 for the return journey. This regularization is part of a broader effort to expand the Amrit Bharat network, which focuses on providing affordable long-distance travel with modern amenities.
Schedule and Travel Time
The Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express (15095) will depart from Gorakhpur every Thursday at 10:45 PM, arriving at Delhi Junction at 12:50 PM the next day. The return train, Delhi-Gorakhpur Amrit Bharat Express (15096), is scheduled to leave Delhi Junction every Friday at 2:10 PM and reach Gorakhpur at 6:30 AM the following morning. The total journey is expected to take approximately 14 hours, covering a distance of about 780 kilometres. This is a notable improvement over some existing services on the route. The train will run at a maximum speed of 130 kmph, facilitated by push-pull locomotive technology that allows for faster acceleration and deceleration, contributing to a smoother journey.
Key Stops and Route
The Amrit Bharat Express will connect several key towns in Uttar Pradesh directly to Delhi. During its journey, the train will make eight intermediate stops. The designated halts are at Khalilabad, Basti, Gonda, Burhwal, Sitapur, Bareilly, Moradabad, and Ghaziabad. This route ensures that passengers from major commercial and agricultural centres have a direct and dependable connection to the national capital. The primary maintenance for the train's rake will be handled at Gorakhpur. The inclusion of these stops is strategic, aiming to improve rail access for populations in mid-sized towns that rely heavily on train services for long-distance travel.

The Amrit Bharat Express is designed to offer enhanced comfort at an affordable price point, primarily serving passengers in non-AC sleeper and unreserved classes. Passengers can expect a range of modern amenities, including mobile charging points for every seat, LED lighting, CCTV surveillance for security, and advanced passenger information systems. The coaches are also fitted with bio-vacuum toilets to maintain better hygiene standards throughout the journey. While specific fares for this route are determined by Indian Railways' dynamic pricing structure, the Amrit Bharat category of trains is intentionally positioned to be an affordable option for middle and lower-income passengers. The fare structure is generally lower than that of premium services like Rajdhani or Shatabdi, aligning with its goal of making long-distance travel more accessible without compromising on basic modern amenities.
