Satpura Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh is arguably one of India’s most unique wildlife destinations, offering walking safaris, canoeing on the Denwa River, and a rugged, hilly landscape. The nearest and most convenient railway station is Pipariya (PPI), located about 45-50 kilometres from the main Madhai gate. Pipariya is well-connected to major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata. The JBP Superfast Express from Delhi and other services put this once-remote park within easy reach of an overnight journey. From Pipariya, a 90-minute taxi ride, often shareable with other travellers, gets you to the park's entrance. The real draw for young tourists is the diversity of experiences beyond the standard jeep safari, offering a more immersive and active way to engage with the wilderness.

Chandrapur has excellent connectivity, with multiple overnight trains from major hubs like Mumbai, Delhi, and Hyderabad. The Sewagram Express from Mumbai is a classic choice for Mumbaikars heading to the reserve. For those on a tight budget, second-class tickets are incredibly affordable, and from Chandrapur station, local buses and shared autos offer a cheap transfer to the park gates. The availability of budget guesthouses and homestays around Moharli makes Tadoba an increasingly viable option for travellers without deep pockets.
Into the Land of Mowgli: Pench National Park
Straddling Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, Pench National Park is famously the setting that inspired Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book'. Its accessibility has been a major draw. The nearest major railway hub is Nagpur (NGP), about 100 km away, which has fantastic connectivity from all corners of India. However, for those looking to access the Madhya Pradesh side of the park, Seoni Railway Station is a closer option at about 72 km. Recent multi-tracking projects on routes leading to Jabalpur and Nagpur are set to further improve transit. A proposed project connecting Jabalpur and the Pench region, expected to be completed by 2030-31, will further enhance this connectivity. For now, an overnight train to Nagpur followed by a 2-3 hour bus or taxi ride is the most popular and efficient route for young travellers.
