Resistance bands are versatile, inexpensive, and take up almost no space, allowing you to add difficulty to various strength exercises. Eat for Immunity and Energy
Monsoon is a time when our immune systems can be more vulnerable. The humidity can lead to a rise in infections, making a nutrient-rich diet more important than ever. Focus on boosting your immunity by incorporating foods like ginger, garlic, and turmeric into your meals, all known for their anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. Opt for seasonal fruits like plums, cherries, and pomegranates which are packed with antioxidants. It's also crucial to eat light and easily digestible meals like soups and khichdi, as our digestive systems can be weaker during this season. While cravings for fried, comforting snacks are common, try to balance them with healthier choices and stay well-hydrated with warm water, herbal teas, or soups.
Leverage Technology and Find a Partner
If you struggle with motivation when working out alone, technology can be your best friend. There are thousands of online fitness classes available, from Zumba and aerobics to Pilates and martial arts, catering to every interest and fitness level. Many apps can guide you through workouts, track your progress, and keep you engaged. Another powerful tool is accountability. Find a workout buddy—it could be a friend or family member—to share your goals with. Checking in with each other, or even doing virtual workouts together, can provide the push you need to stay consistent when your motivation wanes.
Adjust Your Mindset
Perhaps the most important shift is mental. Instead of viewing the monsoon as a barrier, see it as an opportunity to try new things and build new habits.
