The 'Why': A New Skill Set for a Changing World
For decades, a degree from SRCC has been a golden ticket to a career in finance and economics. But the business world is changing fast. Artificial intelligence is no longer a niche for techies; it's becoming a core part of finance, auditing, marketing,
and management. Recognizing this shift, SRCC has partnered with global professional services firm EY India to launch AI VIBE (Varsity for Innovation, Business and Economics). The goal, according to SRCC Principal Prof. Simrit Kaur, is to bridge the skills gap between classroom learning and the needs of an AI-driven economy, ensuring students are ready for the modern workforce. This initiative goes beyond theory, aiming to immerse students in real-world business challenges and emerging technologies.
What the AI VIBE Programme Entails
AI VIBE is a 12-month, intensive programme designed and sponsored by EY India specifically for SRCC students. It's not a theoretical course but an immersive experience. The curriculum covers a wide range of crucial topics including machine learning, Generative AI, data analytics, financial technologies (fintech), blockchain, and the crucial area of responsible AI and its governance. The learning model is blended, combining physical classes on campus on alternate Saturdays with live virtual sessions, visits to EY's training centers, and direct interactions with industry leaders. A significant part of the programme involves hands-on learning through hackathons and applied projects, where students will tackle real business problems.
Who is Eligible and How to Apply
This programme is exclusive to SRCC students but has specific eligibility criteria. It is open to second-year undergraduate students of B.Com (Hons.) and B.A. (Hons.) Economics, as well as first-year postgraduate students in M.Com and PGDGBO. Essentially, you need to be in at least your third semester to apply. Admission is selective and involves a multi-step process that includes assessments, interviews, and the submission of a Statement of Purpose (SOP). The first cohort will consist of 100 students, and the entire programme is fully sponsored by EY India, meaning there are no fees for the selected students. Applications for the inaugural batch close on August 23, 2026.
