Organized by the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA), Agri Intex has grown into one of India's most significant agricultural events. Running from July 9th to 13th, the 2026 edition has drawn 496 companies from across India and
countries like the US, Italy, and Japan. Spread over 150,000 square feet, the event is a comprehensive platform for everything from high-tech farm machinery and irrigation systems to organic fertilizers and livestock management. But its core mission goes deeper than commerce. It aims to introduce contemporary technologies and best practices to help farmers increase productivity, reduce costs, and navigate challenges like water scarcity and labor shortages. With a legacy spanning over two decades, the fair has become a crucial catalyst for modernizing the agricultural sector.
From Blueprints to Breaking Ground
The true spirit of Agri Intex lies in its ability to present tangible solutions to complex problems. This year, automation and precision farming are major highlights. Attendees can witness live demonstrations of advanced drone sprayers, automated harvesters, and direct paddy-transplanting machines designed to streamline farm operations from seeding to harvest. One standout innovation is the FarmX 500 from XMatic Innovation, a multipurpose electric vehicle that can handle load-carrying, spraying, and stubble removal. With a six-hour runtime on a full charge, it represents a practical, eco-friendly solution for smaller farms looking to mechanize multiple tasks with a single machine. These are not just concepts; they are functional tools designed with the Indian farmer in mind.
Tackling Climate Change on the Farm
The urgency of innovation is underscored by the pressing challenges of climate change. During the inaugural session, experts voiced concerns over the El Niño phenomenon and stressed the need for precision farming to conserve water and other inputs. The fair responds directly to this, showcasing technologies that promote sustainability. Exhibitors are presenting eco-friendly solutions like solar-powered irrigation pumps, smart irrigation systems that use AI for scheduling, and organic soil conditioners. Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) is also promoting climate-resilient technologies to help farmers adapt to rising temperatures. The focus is on making agriculture not just more productive, but also more resilient and environmentally responsible for the long term.

While heavy machinery and large-scale solutions are a major draw, Agri Intex caters to a wide spectrum of the agricultural community. For large-scale farmers, the advantage is clear: a single venue to explore and compare a vast range of equipment and inputs. As one farmer from Salem district noted, having everything under one roof is a massive advantage for those who rely on farming for their livelihood. But the event is equally valuable for home growers and urban gardeners. One visitor from Sulur shared her delight at finding rare native seeds like 'nei milagai' (ghee chilli), which are unavailable in commercial shops, alongside high-quality vegetable seeds and decorative plants for her terrace garden. This inclusive approach ensures the fair serves the entire agricultural ecosystem, from vast commercial farms to small backyard plots.
