Dates, Timings, and Special Days
The Amrit Udyan will welcome visitors for its Summer Annuals edition from August 16 to September 15, 2026. This limited window is your chance to see the gardens in their late monsoon glory. The gates are open from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with the last entry
permitted at 5:00 PM. It's important to note that the gardens remain closed every Monday for maintenance. There are also special days reserved for specific groups: August 29 is exclusively for sportspersons, and September 5 is for teachers.
The Essential Booking Process
Entry to Amrit Udyan is completely free of cost, but advance online booking is mandatory. There are no on-the-spot ticket counters, so planning ahead is crucial. You can reserve your slot through the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website. Bookings for a particular day close at 10:00 AM on the preceding day. One booking can accommodate up to six people. After booking, you will receive a digital visitor pass, which you should carry on your mobile phone along with a valid photo ID.
Getting There and Entry Point
Visitor entry and exit are managed through Gate No. 35 of the Rashtrapati Bhavan, located on North Avenue Road. For those using public transport, the most convenient way to arrive is by Delhi Metro. The nearest station is Central Secretariat, which is about two kilometres away. A dedicated shuttle bus service runs every 30 minutes from the metro station to Gate No. 35, operating from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM. If you plan to drive, parking is available, but it can get crowded, especially on weekends.
What Not to Miss Inside the Gardens
Spread across 15 acres, Amrit Udyan is a collection of several distinct gardens. This season, the focus is on indigenous and local flowering plants like Gulmehendi and Rukmini. A major new attraction for 2026 is the 'Babbling Brook', a serene installation with a meandering stream and a reflecting pool designed to offer a relaxing experience. Don't miss the Bal Vatika, a garden specially curated for children, which features a 225-year-old Sheesham tree and a treehouse. Other highlights include the Bonsai Garden, the Circular Garden, and the Herbal Garden.
Know Before You Go: Rules and Facilities
To ensure a smooth visit, there are a few rules to keep in mind. While mobile phones are allowed, items like cameras, video cameras, backpacks, and outside food are not permitted inside the gardens. Visitors are allowed to carry wallets, purses, and umbrellas. For convenience, facilities such as drinking water, first-aid stations, restrooms, and rain shelters are available along the visitor route. These amenities ensure a comfortable experience as you explore the vast estate.
