Confirm Your Core Eligibility
This is the most fundamental check. Re-read the official notification for the specific post you are targeting, such as Scientist/Engineer 'SC'. ISRO is strict about its eligibility criteria. Verify that your BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree meets the required
aggregate minimum, which is often 65% marks or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. Ensure your specific engineering discipline (e.g., Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science) matches the post code you have selected. Some recruitments also require a valid GATE score from the specified years, so confirm you have entered the correct score and registration details if applicable. There are typically no relaxations on educational qualifications for any category, so this step is non-negotiable.
Scrutinise Every Personal Detail
The ISRO application portal often does not allow for edits after the final submission. This makes it imperative to get every detail right the first time. Meticulously check the spelling of your name, your parents' names, and your date of birth. Ensure these details are identical to those on your official documents like your 10th-grade mark sheet and government-issued ID. A tiny mismatch can create significant issues during the document verification stage. Also, double-check your registered email ID and mobile number; these will be used for all future communications, including interview call letters. An incorrect email ID means you could miss critical updates.
Check Your Document Uploads
While most educational and category certificates are verified in person during the interview stage, your photograph and signature must be uploaded online in the prescribed format. Ensure your photograph is a recent, clear, passport-sized color picture. Avoid photos with distracting backgrounds, shadows, or reflections on glasses. Your signature should be clear and match the one you use on official documents. Adhere strictly to the specified file formats (usually JPG) and size limits to prevent upload errors. An unclear photo or signature can be grounds for rejection, so don't treat this step as a mere formality.
Clarify the No Objection Certificate (NOC)
This is a crucial point for candidates currently employed with Central/State Government departments, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), or autonomous bodies. While you do not need to upload the NOC during the initial online application, you are required to produce it at the time of the interview. The application form will likely ask for your current employment status. Be honest. Indicate that you are employed and ensure you have already informed your employer about your application to ISRO. Procuring an NOC can sometimes take time, so it's wise to initiate the process with your current employer as soon as you apply.
Navigate the Final Payment Gateway
Payment failure is one of the most common and stressful issues applicants face, especially on the last day due to high website traffic. To avoid this, try to complete your payment at least a day before the deadline. If you must pay on the final day and your transaction fails or is pending, do not panic. If the amount is debited from your account, note down the transaction reference number and wait for at least 30-60 minutes before checking the payment status again on the ISRO portal. Making immediate duplicate payments can lead to multiple charges. A successful transaction is only confirmed by the payment status on your ISRO application dashboard, not just a debit message from your bank. All women, SC/ST, and PwBD candidates are often exempted from the fee.
Save Your Final Confirmation
Once you have successfully submitted your application and the fee is paid, your job is not quite done. You will be provided with an online Registration Number; this number is vital and should be preserved carefully for all future reference. Immediately download a PDF copy of your completed application form and the payment receipt. Save these documents in a secure folder on your computer and consider emailing a copy to yourself. This documentation is your proof of application and will be essential for future stages of the recruitment process. Do not rely on being able to access it from the portal later; save your own copies right away.
