The Reason For The Disruption
The upcoming changes are necessary to facilitate crucial yard remodelling and non-interlocking work at both Bina and Agasod stations. This project is part of a major upgrade to connect a third railway line between the two stations, which fall under the West
Central Railway and North Central Railway zones, respectively. This type of work involves modernising the complex network of tracks and signalling systems within the railway yard. The goal is to increase the yard's capacity, improve the management of train movements, and enhance overall operational efficiency and safety. While it causes temporary inconvenience, this upgrade will ultimately help handle increasing rail traffic and improve the punctuality and reliability of train services in the long run. The work is scheduled to take place in phases, with the most significant impacts on passenger trains occurring between October 1 and October 15, 2026.
Which Trains Will Be Diverted?
To ensure train operations continue during the upgrade, Indian Railways will reroute 17 services via alternate paths. This means that while the trains will still run, they will not follow their usual route or stop at their scheduled stations, including the key hub of Bina. The diversions will redirect trains through various other junctions, such as Itarsi, Jabalpur, Katni South, New Katni Junction, Guna, Maksi, Nagda, and Kota. Passengers who have booked tickets on these trains for journeys in early to mid-October are advised to check the new routes carefully, as their boarding or alighting stations might have changed.
Key Affected Services: Rewa, Bhopal, and Jabalpur Routes
Several popular trains will be impacted. The Rewanchal Express (Train Nos. 12185 and 12186) between Rewa and Rani Kamalapati (Habibganj) will be diverted via Katni, Jabalpur, and Itarsi from October 8 to October 14. Similarly, the Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Tri-Weekly Express (Train Nos. 11703 and 11704) will run on a rerouted path via Bina Malkhedi, Guna, and Maksi on October 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 14. Services connecting Jabalpur and Veraval (Train Nos. 11465 and 11466) will also be diverted via the Bhopal-Itarsi route on select dates between October 9 and 12.
Impact on Jodhpur, Howrah, and Dhanbad Trains
The disruption extends to services connecting to Rajasthan, West Bengal, and Jharkhand. The Jodhpur-Bhopal Express (Train Nos. 14813 and 14814) will see one of the longest diversions, running via Kota, Nagda, and Maksi for the first half of the month, from October 1 to October 15. The Howrah-Bhopal Weekly Express (Train Nos. 13025 and 13026) will be rerouted through New Katni Junction, Katni South, Jabalpur, and Itarsi on its journeys on October 12 and 14. Additionally, the Bhopal-Dhanbad Tri-Weekly Express (Train Nos. 11631 and 11632) will follow a similar diverted path via Itarsi and Jabalpur on October 9, 12, and 15.
Cancellations on Other Routes
While the Bina-Agasod work primarily involves diversions, passengers should be aware of other unrelated infrastructure projects causing cancellations in the same period. For instance, non-interlocking work in the Danapur Railway Division will lead to the cancellation of services connecting Malda Town with Anand Vihar and New Delhi on several dates between late September and early October. Furthermore, work at Agasod station is also forcing the full cancellation of the KSR Bengaluru-Lalkua Express (Train No. 15301) on October 6 and 13, and the return Lalkua-KSR Bengaluru Express (Train No. 15302) on October 3 and 10.
