Indian Railways has released the official schedule for the Vande Bharat Sleeper service. Regular commercial service from Mumbai to Bengaluru (Train No. 27651) begins on November 2, 2026, while the service from Bengaluru to Mumbai (Train No. 27652) starts
on November 3, 2026. Train 27652 will depart from SMVT Bengaluru at 7:45 PM and arrive at CSMT Mumbai at 11:55 AM the next day, completing the journey in approximately 16 hours and 10 minutes. In the return direction, Train 27651 will leave CSMT Mumbai at 8:10 PM and reach SMVT Bengaluru at 12:00 PM the following day, taking about 15 hours and 50 minutes. The service runs six days a week; there is no service from Bengaluru on Mondays and no service from Mumbai on Tuesdays.
A Leap in Overnight Comfort
The Vande Bharat Sleeper is designed to significantly upgrade the overnight travel experience. The train consists of 16 air-conditioned coaches, including one First AC, four AC 2-Tier, and eleven AC 3-Tier coaches, accommodating a total of 823 passengers. The berths are ergonomically designed and cushioned for better comfort. Each berth is equipped with individual reading lights and charging points for both laptops and mobile phones, including USB and Type-C ports. For enhanced safety and convenience, the train features automatic doors, CCTV cameras, the Kavach anti-collision system, and an emergency talk-back unit to communicate with the driver. Special attention has been given to reducing noise and vibrations, ensuring a smoother and quieter journey even at high speeds.
Route, Stoppages, and Fares
The train connects Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai. It is crucial for passengers to note that the service operates from SMVT in Baiyappanahalli, not KSR Bengaluru (Majestic). The route features eight official stops between the two metros: Kalyan, Pune, Solapur, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Guntakal, and Anantapur. This connects key cities in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. Ticket bookings have opened, and fares vary by class. The indicative fare from Bengaluru to Mumbai is approximately ₹2,810 for AC 3-Tier, ₹3,630 for AC 2-Tier, and ₹4,450 for First AC, though these prices are subject to change with dynamic pricing and catering charges.
How to Book Your Tickets
Passengers can book their tickets for the Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper through multiple channels. The primary method is online booking via the official IRCTC website or its mobile app, Rail Connect. To book online, users need an IRCTC account. After logging in, they can search for trains between SMVT Bengaluru and CSMT Mumbai for their desired date and select from the available classes (1A, 2A, 3A) on train numbers 27651 or 27652. Alternatively, tickets can be booked offline at any computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter at railway stations. Given the high demand for this new premium service, it is advisable to book tickets well in advance.
A Game - Changer for Travel Time
This new service dramatically cuts travel time between the two metropolises. The Vande Bharat Sleeper completes the journey in around ١٦ hours , making it the fastest train on the route . In comparison , existing trains like the Udyan Express can take between ٢٢ and ٢٤ hours to cover the same distance . This time saving of nearly six to eight hours presents a compelling alternative for business and leisure travellers who might otherwise opt for overnight buses or flights . By offering a comfortable overnight option , it allows passengers to travel without losing a full working day , arriving in the city center by midday .
