Udyan Utsav-II: A Monsoon Spectacle
Amrit Udyan at Rashtrapati Bhavan is set to welcome visitors for its Summer Annuals Edition, also known as Udyan Utsav-II, from August 16 to September 15, 2026. This special monsoon opening showcases a variety of indigenous flowering plants that thrive
during this season, such as balsam, aparajita, and rukmini. The gardens will be open from 10 am to 6 pm, with the last entry permitted at 5 pm. Note that the Udyan remains closed on all Mondays for maintenance.
Booking Your Free Entry Slot
Entry to Amrit Udyan is free of cost, but booking a slot online in advance is mandatory. There is no on-the-spot booking facility, so planning is essential. You can reserve your time slot through the official Rashtrapati Bhavan website (visit.rashtrapatibhavan.gov.in). Bookings for a particular day close at 10 am on the previous day. You can book for a maximum of six people on a single ticket, and you will need to carry a digital copy of the visitor pass on your mobile along with a valid photo ID.
Braving the Delhi Rains
August is Delhi's wettest month, characterized by high humidity and frequent, heavy showers. Temperatures typically range from a daytime high of around 34-36°C to a nighttime low of 28°C. To make your visit comfortable, check the weather forecast before heading out. Opting for a morning slot may help you avoid the more common afternoon downpours. Weekdays are also generally less crowded than weekends. Thankfully, authorities have arranged for rain shelters, drinking water stalls, and first-aid posts along the visitor route.
What to Wear and Carry
Dressing appropriately can make all the difference. Choose light, quick-drying fabrics and comfortable, waterproof footwear; avoid heels or slippers that can be treacherous on wet paths. Carrying a sturdy umbrella or a lightweight poncho is highly recommended. While larger bags and backpacks are not allowed, you can carry mobile phones, wallets, purses, and water bottles. For those with infants, baby milk bottles are also permitted. Items like eatables, cameras, and video cameras are restricted.
Getting There and Around
The easiest way to reach Amrit Udyan is by the Delhi Metro. The nearest station is Central Secretariat, which is about 2 km away. A convenient shuttle bus service runs every 30 minutes from Gate No. 4 of the metro station directly to the garden's entrance at Gate No. 35 of the Rashtrapati Bhavan estate on North Avenue Road. This service operates from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm. Using public transport helps you avoid the stress of finding parking and navigating potentially waterlogged roads.
What's New to See
Beyond the vibrant summer annuals, the 2026 edition features a new attraction called the Babbling Brook. This installation is designed as a serene space with a meandering stream, sculptural spouts, and a reflecting pool. The Bal Vatika, or children's garden, is another highlight, featuring a 225-year-old Sheesham tree and a treehouse. The full trail for visitors covers the Bonsai Garden, Central Lawn, Long Garden, and Circular Garden, ensuring a diverse horticultural experience.
