Why Your Train Is Being Rerouted
The temporary changes are due to pre-non-interlocking and non-interlocking work to connect a new third railway line between Bina station of West Central Railway and Agasod station of North Central Railway. This essential infrastructure upgrade involves
complex signalling and track adjustments. While it causes short-term disruption, the project is vital for increasing line capacity, which will ultimately lead to smoother train operations, reduced congestion, and improved punctuality on this busy corridor in the long run. The work is part of a broader effort by Indian Railways to modernise its network and handle increasing passenger and freight traffic more efficiently.
Key Period of Disruption
According to a notification from West Central Railway, the engineering work is scheduled in phases from September 1 to October 15, 2026. The diversions for the 17 specified trains will occur on various dates within the first half of October. Passengers with travel plans during this period are strongly advised to verify the schedule and route of their specific train before commencing their journey. The changes primarily affect services passing through the Bina junction, a key transit point.
Services Between Bhopal and Jodhpur
Among the key services affected are those connecting Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Train No. 14814 Bhopal-Jodhpur will be diverted to run via Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Maksi Junction, Nagda, and Kota from October 1 to 15. In the return direction, Train No. 14813 Jodhpur-Bhopal will follow the same alternate route from October 1 to 14. Passengers on this popular route should account for potential changes in travel time due to the longer path.
Changes for Rewa and Rewanchal Express Trains
Several trains originating from or heading to Rewa will also see diversions. Train No. 12185 Rewa-Rani Kamalapati Rewanchal Express is set to run via Katni, Jabalpur, and Itarsi from October 8 to 14. Its counterpart, Train No. 12186 Rani Kamalapati-Rewa, will use the same diverted route in the opposite direction during this period. Additionally, the tri-weekly Train No. 11703 Rewa-Dr Ambedkar Nagar Express will be diverted via Bina Malkhedi, Guna, and Maksi on October 8, 11, and 13, with the return train (11704) taking the same path on October 9, 12, and 14.
West-to-East Corridor Diversions
Passengers traveling on the West-to-East corridors will also need to check their schedules. Train No. 11466 Jabalpur-Veraval Express will be rerouted via Itarsi and Bhopal on October 9 and 12. The corresponding Train No. 11465 Veraval-Jabalpur service will follow this diverted path on October 10 and 12. Furthermore, the weekly Train No. 13025 Howrah-Bhopal Express will be diverted via New Katni Junction, Katni South, Jabalpur, and Itarsi on its journey dated October 12, while the return train (13026) will use this alternate route on October 14.
Other Affected Bhopal-Originating Trains
Several other services originating from Bhopal are also on the diversion list. The Bhopal-Dhanbad Tri-Weekly Express (11631/11632) and the Bhopal-Singrauli Tri-Weekly Express (22165) will be redirected through Itarsi, Jabalpur, and Katni South on specific dates between October 9 and 15. The weekly Bhopal-Chopan Express (11633/11634) will also follow a similar diversion via Itarsi and Jabalpur on October 11 and 12. Passengers booked on these services should confirm the exact dates of diversion for their specific travel plans.
