The Vande Bharat Express, with its modern amenities like air-conditioned coaches, reclining seats, and onboard catering, offers a premium experience that stands in stark contrast to the arduous road journey on NH-44. The All-Weather Lifeline

Historically, the Jammu-Srinagar highway has been notoriously unreliable, especially during winter when heavy snowfall and landslides can shut it down for days, isolating the Valley. These include heating systems to prevent pipes from freezing and heated windshields for clear visibility, ensuring the train can run smoothly year-round. The journey itself has become a tourist attraction. The route features breathtaking views and passes over incredible feats of engineering. The most notable of these is the Chenab Rail Bridge, the world's highest railway bridge, standing 359 meters above the riverbed—taller than the Eiffel Tower. Passengers also cross the Anji Khad Bridge, India's first cable-stayed railway bridge.
