The Opportunity: What's on Offer
ISRO, through its Centralised Recruitment Board (ICRB), has announced vacancies for the prestigious Scientist/Engineer ‘SC’ position. These are Group 'A' Gazetted posts, placing successful candidates at Level 10 of the pay matrix. The starting basic pay is ₹56,100
per month, in addition to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Transport Allowance. The current drive aims to fill 93 positions across various ISRO centres, including Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Sriharikota, and Thiruvananthapuram. Vacancies are available in several engineering disciplines such as Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, and Civil engineering.
Eligibility Rules: Who Can Apply?
To be eligible for these coveted roles, candidates must meet specific educational and age criteria. Applicants need a B.E./B.Tech or an equivalent degree in the relevant engineering discipline with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks or a CGPA of 6.84 on a 10-point scale. The upper age limit for applicants is 28 years as of the application closing date, which is August 17, 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for candidates from reserved categories as per Government of India orders. A crucial requirement for this particular recruitment is a valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 score in the corresponding engineering paper. This is a key change, as ISRO sometimes uses a written test, but this drive will rely on GATE scores for initial screening.
The Selection Process: GATE Score and Interview
The selection process is a two-stage affair. Unlike some previous drives that involved a dedicated written test, this recruitment will use GATE scores for shortlisting. Candidates will be shortlisted for a personal interview based on their valid GATE 2025 or GATE 2026 scores. ISRO plans to call candidates for the interview in a 1:7 ratio for the number of vacancies available in each discipline. The final selection will be determined by giving 50% weightage to the candidate's GATE score and 50% weightage to their performance in the interview. The interview is designed to assess the candidate's technical knowledge, comprehension, and communication skills.
How to Apply and Key Dates
The application process is entirely online. Interested and eligible candidates must apply through the official ISRO website, www.isro.gov.in, before the deadline. The online application window closes on August 17, 2026. After filling out the form with personal details, educational qualifications, and a valid GATE score, applicants will receive a registration number which should be saved for future reference. A valid email ID is also mandatory for communication. The last date for the payment of the application fee is August 19, 2026. Candidates currently employed in government or public sector undertakings must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of the interview.
