What is the AI VIBE Programme?
The initiative, officially named AI VIBE (Varsity for Innovation, Business and Economics), is a 12-month training programme jointly developed by EY India and SRCC. Launched in August 2026 to mark SRCC's centenary year, its primary goal is to equip undergraduate
and postgraduate students with the practical AI and technology skills demanded by the modern workplace. The programme is fully sponsored by EY India, meaning it is offered at no cost to the selected students. It is a selective course open to second-year B.Com (Hons.) and B.A. (Hons.) Economics students, as well as first-year M.Com and PGDGBO students, who must pass a process involving written tests, interviews, and a statement of purpose.
The Core Skills You Will Master
The curriculum is designed to move beyond buzzwords and provide deep, practical knowledge. Participants will receive immersive training across a spectrum of cutting-edge domains. Key areas include machine learning, Generative AI, AI agents, and data analytics. The course also covers crucial business-oriented technologies like financial technologies (FinTech) and blockchain. Importantly, the programme places a strong emphasis on the ethical and responsible application of these powerful tools, with dedicated modules on responsible AI and AI governance. The aim is to create professionals who are not just technically proficient but also understand the business context and ethical implications of AI.
An Immersive Learning Experience
AI VIBE uses a blended learning model that combines academic rigour with direct industry exposure. The structure includes a mix of in-person classes held on the SRCC campus, live virtual sessions, and self-paced study using curated resources. A significant part of the learning process is hands-on. Students will work on real-world case studies and live projects inspired by industry challenges, ensuring they can apply theoretical knowledge to practical business problems. The programme also features hackathons, mentorship opportunities, and direct engagement with senior AI specialists and business leaders from EY India, providing an invaluable connection to the professional world.
Bridging Academia and Industry
The collaboration is a direct response to the growing demand from employers for entry-level recruits with foundational digital literacy. As SRCC Principal Prof. Simrit Kaur noted, the partnership aims to bridge the skills gap, allowing students to enter the workforce with greater confidence and readiness. By learning directly from EY practitioners, students gain insights that go beyond traditional classroom instruction. This model enables them to engage with real business challenges and emerging technologies in a structured way, making their education immediately relevant to corporate requirements. Top-performing participants may also get internship opportunities at EY, providing a direct pathway from learning to employment.
Career Relevance for Commerce Students
For commerce and economics students, AI literacy is rapidly shifting from a niche advantage to a core competency. This programme is designed to prepare them for an AI-enabled economy where data-driven decision-making is paramount. According to Rajiv Memani, Chairman and CEO of EY India, foundational AI skills are now necessary for students entering an increasingly automated workplace. Graduates of the AI VIBE programme will be equipped for roles that require a blend of business acumen and tech skills. They will be able to analyse data, understand AI-driven business models, and apply technology to solve financial and economic challenges, making them highly competitive candidates in consulting, finance, analytics, and strategic roles.
