While the infrastructure for customs and immigration is being prepared, officials have indicated that international operations are expected to begin before the end of 2026, with destinations like Dubai and Singapore being likely early additions. For the foreseeable future, travellers seeking the vast network of non-stop, long-haul flights offered by major international carriers will need to continue using IGI. An airport is only as good as the journey to get there. While road access via the Yamuna Expressway is the primary route, reaching the airport from parts of Delhi or Gurugram can be a long haul.
