Dubai, a city synonymous with ambition and luxury, is adding another glittering attraction to its portfolio. Before 2026 ends, it plans to unveil the world's first 24-carat gold walkway, offering a unique experience for visitors.
A Glimmering New Destination
Dubai is preparing to
launch a tourist attraction unlike any other: a walkway literally paved with gold. According to official announcements, this path will be made using 24-carat gold and is set to be the first and longest of its kind in the world. Rashid Al Harmoudi, a Senior Director at the Dubai Gold District, confirmed that the project is expected to open within the next two months, placing its debut just before the close of 2026. This initiative is designed to give both residents and tourists a remarkable experience, allowing them to stroll along a shimmering golden path in one of the city's most famous commercial hubs.
The Heart of the City of Gold
The walkway will be located in the Dubai Gold District in Deira, a new, purpose-built destination for the gold and jewellery trade that officially launched in January 2026. This district was established to consolidate the entire precious metals ecosystem, from wholesale trading and bullion investment to retail and manufacturing, into a single, modern hub. The new walkway is part of a broader strategy to enhance the district's appeal, combining its commercial focus with unique visitor experiences. It reinforces Dubai's long-standing reputation as the 'City of Gold' and aims to draw even more attention to its thriving jewellery market.
More Than Just a Golden Path
While the idea of a 24-carat gold walkway is the main draw, the project is a key feature of the larger Deira Enrichment Project. This ambitious urban redevelopment aims to revitalise Dubai's historic trading centre by introducing modern infrastructure while preserving its cultural charm. The Gold Souk Extension, of which the walkway is a part, already features shaded pedestrian areas, new retail spaces, offices, and improved connectivity. The addition of the gold walkway is intended to serve as a major tourist magnet, complementing other recent attractions in the area, including two Guinness World Record-holding gold earrings now on permanent display.
A Sign of Continued Growth
The announcement of the gold walkway comes at a time of significant growth for the Dubai Gold District. Since the beginning of 2026, the area has seen a 20% increase in wholesale gold trading offices and a 15% rise in new stores selling gold, jewellery, and luxury watches. The development reflects Dubai's ongoing commitment to investing in headline-grabbing attractions that drive tourism and global interest. By creating an experience that is both luxurious and highly memorable, Dubai is cementing its status as a leading global destination for both business and leisure. Officials anticipate that the new attraction will help boost the number of companies moving into the district by 10% to 20% in the coming year.
